Annie Lennox was trained in classical music and studied the flute at the Royal Academy of Music in London; she did not matriculate, however, in 2006, the academy made her an honorary Fellow. She did eventually launch a solo career in 1992 which met with equal success. Her debut album Diva spawned hit singles such as "Why" which grossed sales of over 2 million copies in the US alone and earned her 3 Grammy Awards nominations. Her second solo album, Medusa, with the hit single "No More I Love You's" was also a hit peaking at #11 and going platinum by the end of 1995. |
