Bryan Adams    (5 Nov 1959)

One of the most successful artists in pop music worldwide!  His raspy voice and simple compositions proved to be the source of his great hits!

Bryan Adams is a Canadian (born in Ontario)  rock singer, guitarist, songwriter and photographer.  Some of his best-known albums are Reckless, 18 til I Die, and Waking Up the Neighbours."  His  music has been used on the soundtrack of no less than 42 movies.

Bryan collaborated with other artists at the beginning of his career and a clear path to success was opened when his own album, Cuts Like a Knife with "Straight from the Heart," was released and peaked in the Top Ten of the Hot 100 in 1982; the LP also reached the Top Ten and went platinum.

In 1984 he released his 4th album which spawned 5 hit singles  ("Somebody," "Heaven" (which hit number one), "Summer of '69" (Top Ten), "One Night Love Affair," and a duet with Tina Turner, "It's Only Love."), and hit #1 in the U.S. selling five million copies in America and a reported three million more in the rest of the world.  He co-wrote Canada's group song "Tears Are Not Enough," recorded by Canadian artists Northern Lights which became a #1 hit in Canada and was included on the We Are the World LP.

This series of successes was followed his hit "Everything I Do) I Do It For You" remaining on the top of the UK Singles Chart for 16 consecutive weeks which is an as yet unbroken record.  "He has been nominated for three Academy Awards for songwriting, and was recently nominated for his fifth Golden Globe (2007) for his songwriting in the film Bobby."

"Adams was awarded the Order of Canada and the Order of British Columbia for his contribution to popular music and his philanthropic work. He was also inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame in 1998, and more recently inducted into the Music Hall of Fame at Canada's Juno Awards in April 2006."
