What's Up
The 4 Non-Blondes
Listen to the audio file Here

Twenty - five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

And I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means

And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar

And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?

Ooh, ooh ooh

And I try, oh my god do I try
I try all the time, in this institution
And I pray, oh my god do I pray
I pray every single day
For a revolution

And so I cry sometimes
When I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out
What's in my head
And I am feeling a little peculiar

And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream at the top of my lungs
What's going on?

And I say, hey hey hey hey
I said hey, what's going on?
Twenty - five years and my life is still
Trying to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination

Up Close and Personal:

Linda Perry    (15 Apr 1965)

The Woman with the Big voice, great showmanship, amazing lyricist, a talent for production and many hits to her credit!

Linda Perry is an American (born in Massachusetts to Brazilian and Portuguese-American parents) who  is a  rock musician, songwriter, and record producer.

Perry started her career singing solo in San Francisco until she became the lead singer and primary songwriter for the 4 Non Blondes in 1989.  When the group disbanded, Perry launched a solo career in 1995, releasing solo albums while writing songs for other artists.

Dissatisfied with the dealings in the record industry, Perry has since founded two record labels and has "become a major songwriter and producer responsible for hit songs by a number of... singers, such as Gwen Stefani, Pink (who had a #1 hit with "Get the Party Started", written by Perry), and Christina Aguilera (who had a #1 hit with Perry's song "Beautiful")."

Perry has  contributed heavily to albums by Courtney Love and Kelly Osbourne, and has written with and for many famous artists (Jewel, Faith Hill, Gina Gershon, Britney Spears, Joan Jett, Cheap Trick, Dixy Chicks, to name a few).

"In 2006, Linda earned the #1 spot on the World Top 100 A&R Chart, compiled by HitQuarters, for signing James Blunt to her label Custard Records."

Up Close and Personal:

The 4 Non-B londes    (band)

So they disbanded and none of them were blonde, but they sure did create a rocking anthem that will go on and on! And I say yeay, yeay, yeay, yeay, yeay, that's what's going on!

The 4 Non-Blondes was "an American rock band formed in 1989 by four women, none of whom were blonde. They consisted of bassist Christa Hillhouse, guitarist Shaunna Hall, drummer Wanda Day and vocalist Linda Perry."

"They hit the charts in 1993 with "What's Up", their only hit." "They represented American alternative rock genre of music."

"Prior to the release of their first album, Roger Rocha replaced Hall on guitar, and Dawn Richardson replaced Day on drums." "Perry left the band in 1995 to begin a solo career, and the remaining members disbanded soon thereafter."

Genre: Alternative Rock, Grunge
