With many firsts to her name, Award-winning Laurika Rauch is undeniably one of South Africa's premiere performers of new Afrikaans music!

Laurika Rauch is a native of Capetown, SA who has wowed her audience with her brilliant inroads into Afrikaans music.  She is also a composer, an actress, a director, a record producer and the co-founder of a music publishing company.

Schooled in drama and singing, Laurika branched off into performing professionally at the end of the 1970's and in the 30 year span of her career she has amassed a large number of awards and has the first to achieve several goals.  A number of her songs have gone platinum and gold and she has performed throughout Europe.

Laurika has received the first Gallo award ever given to an Afrikaans production for best performance in a musical.  She received the first award of its kind from the Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en Kuns for her contribution to light Afrikaans music.  Her first hit song "Kinders van die Wind" (written by Koos Du Plessis) stayed #1 on the Radio 5 Hit Parade 5 weeks and 11 weeks on the Springbok Radio Charts after reaching the #3 position in 1979.  She is also the recipient of several South African Oskars and lifetime achievement awards as well as Octave award for her album, Stuur groete aan Mannetjies Roux and  an ENB/SAMA award for Hot Gates.
