Hotdog (band) Pinoy Rock N Roll at its best!Hotdog is "a Filipino pop and rock and roll band that topped the Filipino charts in the 70's to the early 80's" and are considered major pioneers of "Manila Sound", "light, playful sentimental sound of popular music employing the a combination of regional languages... and English... or Taglish." The band was led by Rene Garcia and had 8 original members (Dennis Garcia, Louie Nepomuceno, Lorrie Illustre, Mon Torralba, Tito del Rosario, Roy Diaz de Rivera and Robby Luna). Other members, tGina Montes and Mazo Diez joined the group as Hotdog rose in popularity. "The band added female vocalists in different timelines to suit the taste of people for female artists. Best known are Ella del Rosario, the original silk-voiced soloist and Zsa Zsa Padilla who became a screen actress." In fact, a "majority of their artists, such as Ella del Rosario went on to skyrocketing solo careers in show business and media production." In 1974, Hotdog performed their hit "Ikaw ang Miss Universe ng Buhay Ko" (You are the Miss Universe of my life) at the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant. "Their hit song "Manila" topped the charts in 1984." |
