Hoy estamos de fiesta,
tenemos nueva casa
y hay que inaugurarla
como Dios manda.
Today we are having a celebration; we
have a new house and we have to christen
it as God has ordained.
Hay de todo,
asado, cazuela, champaña,
vino blanco, del otro,
mucha gente y la casa.
There
are all kinds of things; a roast,
casserole, champagne, white wine, some
of the other, a lot of people and the
house.
La casa nueva,
nuestra casa,
fruto de tantos años
llenos de penas blancas.
The new house; our house, the fruit of
so many years filled with sweat and
tears.
Primero hubo discursos, (me acuerdo)
me felicitaron,
hasta nos tomaron fotos
con la vieja, abrazados.
First there were speeches (I remember);
they congratulated me, we even took
photos with the old lady, embracing.
Luego, y como es lógico,
ya no hay nada importante,
importan sólo el trago,
la comida y el baile.
Then, as is logical, there wasn't
anything else left of importance only
the drink, the meal and dancing.
Yo los miro de lejos,
los niños están gandes,
mi hija con su novio,
mi hijo y su compadre.
I look at them from afar; the children
are grown up; my daughter with her
boyfriend, my son with his pal.
Mi mujer con los platos,
yo con mi copa, solo,
en un rincón la busco
escondido de todos.
My woman with the dishes; me with my
drink, all alone, in a corner I look for her
hidden from everybody.
¡Hola vieja! bailamos?
¡qué importan todos estos!,
no importa ni la casa
lo que importa es lo nuestro.
Hey old lady! Shall we dance? Of what
importance is all this! It's not
important, not even the house is of
importance; the important thing is what
we have.
Quítate el delantal
quiero verte de fiesta,
ya está bueno de platos,
ahora eres la reina.
Take off your apron! I want to see
you celebrating, already you are good
with the dishes, now you are the queen.
Bebe, tú, de mi copa
como en los tiempos idos,
yo bebo de la tuya,
amigos?…amigos.
Drink, you, from
my glass like in times gone by; I drink
from yours, friends? ... friends.
Canto
Déjame bailar, contigo, la alegría linda del último vals,
amor, amor, amor,
vamos a vivir, unidos, en este minuto nuestra eternidad,
amor, amor, amor.
Singing... Let me dance, with you, the
beautiful happiness of the last waltz,
love, love, love; We are going to live,
united, in this minute our eternity,
love, love, love.
Recitado
Sabes una cosa?
hay algo que no entiendo,
yo quería una fiesta
con los hijos y los nietos,
Recited: Do you know something?
There is something that I just don't
understand. I wanted a party with
the children and the grandchildren,
Y vino tanta gente
que tuve que buscarte,
como ves, escondido,
para poder hablarte.
And so many people came that I had to
search for you, as you see, hidden, in
order to be able to talk.
Pienso qué pasaría
si alguien me sorprendiera
contándote, en secreto,
mis siniestras ideas,
Una casa, cuál casa?
si esto es una barraca,
comparada con otras
que sí se llaman casas.
I think what would happen if someone
would surprise me serenading you, in
secret, my sinister ideas, A house, what
house? if this isn't a shack compared
with others that they call houses.
La casa nueva,
(¡claro!) desde hoy la casa de los viejos
para bailar, a solas,
un valsecito añejo.
The new house, Yes, as of
from today, the house of the old folks
to dance, alone, a little ol' waltz.
Canto
Déjame bailar, contigo, la alegría linda del último vals,
amor, amor, amor,
déjame mirar tus ojos recordando tiempos que no volverán,
amor, amor, amor.
Singing... Let me dance, with you, the
beautiful happiness of the last waltz,
love, love, love, Let me look into your
eyes remembering times that will never
return.
Mira, todos se han ido,
hemos quedado solos,
estoy casi borracho, parece,
lo entiendes? solos, solos,
Look, everyone has gone, we have ended
up alone, I am almost drunk it seems, do
you understand? Alone, alone.
Sin hijos, lo ves?
se van, se van. felices,
tú te pones más vieja,
yo más viejo y más triste.
Without children, you see? They
left, they left happy. You are
becoming older and sadder,
En fin, bailemos,
sólo Dios entiende lo que pasa,
después de todo, o nada,
tenemos nueva casa.
So, let's dance, only God understands
what is going on., after everything or
nothing, we have a new house.
Canto
Déjame bailar, contigo, la alegría linda del último vals,
amor, amor, amor,
déjame saber, es cierto, que nada nos quita la felicidad,
amor, amor, amor
Singing... Let me dance,
with you, the beautiful happiness of the
last waltz, love, love, love, let me
know, it's true, that nothing will take
away our happiness, love, love, love.
