Force against force equals more force.

-Ashanti Proverb

There is nothing more infuriating than being in the presence of someone who makes a slur.  Whether it is in the form of a joke, mindless comment or blatant disrespect, ignorance should carry no weight with you.  The comment is a reflection of fear and shame.  To respond means giving into fear and surrendering your power.  Remember, what you focus your mind on will grow.  When you allow yourself to be drawn into the ignorance of another, you will undoubtedly say or do something of the same nature.  As hard as it may be, the best response is no response.  In the silence of your comment, the sting of the words is sure to hit home.
